What are your minimum number of days?
Two days at The Cubby, and three days at My Treehut. We also have a 6-hour minimum day.
How many children at The Cubby/My Treehut?
16 tamariki one year to three years at The Cubby, and 40 children three years to school age at My Treehut.
What are your ratios?
1:4 at The Cubby, and 1:8 at My Treehut.
On an excursion, we have a 1:2 policy for Cubby, 1:2 for all tamariki anywhere near water, 1:4 for My Treehut excursions, and 1:5 on Nature Learners.
How does the waitlist work? How long is it?
Our waitlist is about 1 year long at The Cubby. We give priority to siblings of current families. The waitlist for My Treehut is from 6 weeks to 6 months depending on the time of year and school leavers. Our waitlist is made up of families who show continued interest via phone or email due to our high volume of enquiries.
Can I pop in to have a look at My Treehut or The Cubby?
We prefer to schedule a tour when you have been offered a space at My Treehut or The Cubby so as not to disrupt our tamariki and kaiako in their day full of discovery and play. When your enrolment is secured, you are welcome to pop in and visit.
What ages do you take?
We have children enrolled from 1 year to 6 years old.
How often do you go on trips and excursions?
We go for regular excursions in our Adventure Van. My Treehut Nature Learners (4-year-olds) head out to Whakaipo Bay and Taiao Explorers (3-year-olds) head out to Wharewaka Dell every week in term time. The Cubby 2-year-olds enjoy two Ngahere walks per week in the Waipahihi Botanical Gardens in term time.
We take spontaneous trips throughout the year in line with our curriculum.
Do you close for school holidays?
We are open school holidays.
We close for statutory holidays, one teacher only day a year, and around 2 and a half weeks over the Christmas and New Year period. No fees are charged during these closures.
Do you provide food?
Yes, we provide three nutritious meals. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, as well as a late snack for tamariki here after 3.30pm.
Do you do 20 hours ECE?
Yes, we provide 20 subsidised ECE hours for 3-year-olds and over.
What are your fees?
Fees are dependent on your days and hours. We have a small fee increase annually in July. Please see the fee policy link at the bottom of the page and contact My Treehut for any enquiries.
